Access & E-mail Setup Instructions
Please
note that your Account Name and Account Password are case-sensitive.
Be sure your "Caps Lock" key is not on before proceeding with
the setup process.
If
you are a business customer, then your e-mail address may consist of
your username and your company name. For example: username@yourcompany.com

Instructions for your Windows 95/98 personal computer (These
setup instructions assume the presence of Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.0 or higher. For other assistance, please call us at 738-9849.)
I. Installing the TCP/IP protocol (If not already installed)
1. Have your Windows 95/98 software handy.
(On some computers the software is preloaded on your
system, so you will not have to locate your disks or CD ROM.)
2. Click "Start," then "Settings"
and choose "Control Panel."
3. Double-click on the "Network"
icon.
4. If the TCP/IP protocol is already present,
you may skip to the next section, "Installing the
Dial-up Networking
utility."
5. Click the "Add" button; click
the "Protocol" icon, then click "Add."
6. Choose the "Microsoft" icon, then
choose the "TCP/IP" protocol.
7. Click "Ok" and then "Ok"
again.
8. Your computer will then either ask you for
your install disks/CD ROM for Windows 95/98, or find the
software it needs already located on your computer to install the TCP/IP
protocol.
9. You will be prompted to reboot your computer.
II.
Installing the Dial-up Networking utility (If not already installed)
1. Have your Windows 95/98 software handy.
(On some computers the software is preloaded on your system,
so you will not have to locate your disks or CD ROM.)
2. Click "Start," then "Settings"
and choose "Control Panel."
3. Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs"
icon.
4. At the top of the window that opens are
three tabs; choose the "Windows Setup" tab.
5. Double-click on "Communications."
6. Click the "Dial-up Networking"
check box.
7. Click "Ok," then click "Ok"
again.
8. Your computer will then either ask you for
your install disks/CD ROM for Windows 95/98, or find the
software it needs already located on your computer to install the
Dial-up Networking utility.
III.
Making your new CompuNet connection
1. Double-Click on "My Computer;" then
double click on "Dial-up Networking."
2. Double-Click on "Make new Connection."
3. A dialog box will open asking for information
about your new connection.
4. Type CompuNet for the name of
the computer your are dialing.
5. Click "Next."
6. Type 7520253 for the Telephone
number.
7. Click "Next," then click
"Finish." This will create a new icon in the Dial-up Networking window
called"CompuNet."
IV.
Configuring your CompuNet connection
1. Right Click on the newly created Compunet
Icon and choose "Properties."
2. Click the "Server type" button.
3. Only have "Enable software compression"
and "TCP/IP" checked. Make sure all other selections
are not checked.
4. Click "TCP/IP Settings."
5. Check the "Server assigned IP address"
button.
6. Check the "Specify name server
address" button.
7. Type 206.96.244.5 in the Primary
DNS window.
8. Type 206.96.244.6 in the Secondary
DNS window and click "Ok" until back to the desktop. This
will set all the
properties needed to make your Internet Connection.
V.
Configuring your CompuNet e-mail connection (The e-mail setup
instructions assume the presence of
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, which includes Outlook Express.

1. Click "Start," then "Programs,"
then "Internet Explorer," and select "Outlook Express."
2. Type Your Real Name in the box and click
"Next."
3. Type your E-mail Address and click "Next."
4. Type mail.compunet1.net in the next
2 boxes (Incoming POP3 and Outgoing SMTP).
5. Click "Next."
6. Type your Account Name and your Account
Password and click "Next."
7. Type CompuNet for "Internet
mail account name" and click "Next."
8. Check the "Connect using my phone line"
box.
9. Click "Next," then click "Finish."
